Thirty new faceless spotty peg dollies, in sage green and rose pink livery, watch me across the room with a blank, eyeless gaze. Staring back, I can see each one’s character forming and I sense them willing me to pick up my paint brush and give their features form…it’s going to be a long night…

I sold my first dolly on Etsy today, to a very patient american from Chicago. Quite pleased one of my dollies is going to the states. I have always rather liked a touch of american gothic, particularly the works of Alice Hoffman and the way she places uncanny enchantment on the edges of everyday experience, not so far away from the sinister edge of whimsy…
